CAIRO – 20 April 2020: Advisor of Egyptian President for Health and Precautionary Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag el-Din said that citizens should abide by the precautionary measures to combat the spread of coronavirus.

In a phone call with Extra News TV Channel, Tag el-Din said that the infections' curve in Egypt is still at the “expected limits,” adding that there is a direct relationship between infections and deaths.

“The treatment protocol that Egypt is adopting in curing coronavirus is one of the best,” Tag el-Din explained. “We are keeping track of the developments in the coronavirus treatment topic.”

He further noted that the protocol assigned to patients differs according to each case.

He also added that Egypt has started clinical trials of Avigan, the antiviral drug that has been used in Japan since 2014, to evaluate its efficiency in curing COVID-19 patients.

The Ministry of Health announced Sunday recording 112 new coronavirus cases, and 15 deaths.

According to Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed, the new cases raise Egypt’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 3144 and deaths to 239.
